On Friday February 8th, Madrona School welcomed the team from Zero Waste with the City of Vancouver. They led our weekly assembly for Grades 4 to 9 and shared a wealth of information about their mission, our planet, and waste management in Vancouver. As our school has just recently adopted the section of the Arbutus Greenway from Broadway to West 12th Avenue through the Adopt-A-Block program, this was the perfect opportunity to head out and clean up the neighbourhood. All students and teachers participated in our neighbourhood clean up party, with buddy classes partnering up to pick up garbage together. We could really feel the connection to our community that morning, and we even had a few folks stop as they were passing by to cheer us on!
