Madrona students visited MakerLabs in Vancouver for a guided tour.
Students learned about various hand tools and how workshop equipment is operated. Inside of the sewing lab, we saw a CNC loom, mannequins and industrial sewing machines. The woodshop had a CNC milling machine, table saw, band saw and lathe, and in the metal department; a brazing hearth and hydraulic press. The list goes on! The tour manager gave the students a demo of the laser cutter and 3D Printer. We experienced how designers work in their designated studios, from stain glass making, a chocolate factory and soap making.
