Tools & Talents Program
At Madrona, we recognize the important role of technology in the world our students are heading into. We want all our students to have the opportunity to understand technology in a fundamental way that will allow them to meaningfully participate in our changing society, regardless of the path they choose to follow in life. Our Intermediate students engage in a four-year interdisciplinary program in technology in addition to their regular curriculum.
Level One: All Intermediate students receive a basic grounding in:
- Computer Programming
- Web-based Application Development
- Digital Photography and Film
- Digital Art and Illustration
Level Two: Students continue to study a number of subjects, some required and others chosen from their areas of interest. Participation in the program beyond this level is optional.
Level Three: Students who choose to pursue the program at Level Three select a few subjects of interest to them to study further, deepening their knowledge and skills.
Level Four: Students choose one subject area to pursue at an advanced level and, in collaboration with teachers, design their own curriculum.
Following completion of the four year program, students receive certificates of achievement detailing the skills and competencies they have mastered.
