About the Event

Join Nicola Doughty in an in person parent workshop hosted by Madrona School and BC Council for Exceptional Children.

Participants will learn practical techniques to recognize their child’s unique sensory and emotional needs, create safe and predictable environments, and respond to challenging behaviors with compassion and confidence. Grounded in neuroscience and developmental psychology, this workshop emphasizes building stronger parent-child connections and empowering parents to be a calming presence even during moments of heightened stress or dysregulation. Benefits of Attending: 1. Enhanced Emotional Connection: Parents will learn how to strengthen their bond with their neurodivergent child by understanding and responding to their individual regulation needs. 2. Effective Strategies for Challenging Moments: Gain practical tools for managing meltdowns, shutdowns, and other intense emotional experiences in a way that promotes long-term self-regulation skills. 3. Reduced Stress for Parents and Children: Discover techniques to stay calm and centered as a parent, creating a ripple effect of emotional stability within the family dynamic. This workshop is ideal for parents seeking a deeper understanding of their child’s unique experiences and effective strategies to support their growth and well-being.
